Privacy Policy

Positions for iPhone, listed on the App Store as PositionTracker. Last updated 13 September 2026.

What Is Collected

Positions collects nothing. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising identifier and no third-party code of any kind in the app. Nothing about you or your account is sent to the developer, and there is no server behind this app to send it to.

What Leaves the Device

The app talks to IG's API and to nowhere else. It signs in with the credentials you give it, reads your accounts, positions, orders waiting to open, prices and transaction history, and shows you what it makes of them.

Your IG username, password and API key are held in this device's Keychain. They are marked as available only on this device while it is unlocked, they are never included in an iCloud Keychain sync, and reading them requires Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. The developer cannot read them and neither can any other app.

What Is Stored, and for How Long

Your positions, the money you have put behind each one, the rates you have entered and the record of every change are stored on this device. They are not backed up to the developer and are not sent anywhere.

IG's transaction history is read to work out what your positions have actually cost. Only the figures derived from it are kept; the transactions themselves are used and discarded on every refresh. Orders waiting to open are read on every refresh and are not stored at all.

Nothing leaves the device unless you send it yourself. Settings, then Backup, writes a file wherever you choose to put it, and Show the Working copies a calculation to the clipboard when you ask it to. Nothing else exports anything.

Deleting Your Data

Settings, then IG account, then Disconnect, deletes your IG credentials from the Keychain immediately. Deleting the app removes everything else it holds — the positions, the ledger, the rates and the widget's copy of your figures — because all of it lives inside the app.

Children

The app is not directed at children. It requires an IG Markets account, which IG issues only to adults.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. The app's own Settings screen carries the same wording, so the two can be compared.
